If you’re looking for more than R&R on the beach, Nicaragua is full of A&A options from coast to coast. Get the adrenaline pumping with some volcano boarding, zip-lining and of course surfing. Or take it down a notch with some snorkeling, sportfishing, or kayaking. To take it real slow, try watching the turtles as they (very slowly) come ashore to lay their eggs at one of the protected beaches along the Pacific coast. Of the many other options, you could try:

A bike ride to the UNESCO World Heritage town of Old León
A guided paddle through Lake Nicaragua’s 365 islets.
A challenging hike up the perfect cone of dormant, 4,573-foot (1,394-meter) Maderas Volcano on Ometepe.
